Shanea Makinson
Hospitality Director Bio
Shanea Makinson grew up in a motorcycle family and has been part of the motorcycle community her entire life. She has also committed countless hours to organizing and facilitating various small to large scale events for a number of different organizations.
From 1997-2001 Shanea served as Coordinator for the Marin City Web Star Program, developing and operating a technology education for young adults and underserved teens. Shanea not only inspired the program participants, but assisted many of them in starting careers in the Tech industry.
When her daughter was younger, Shanea served as a Girl Scout of the USA Council Member and Troop leader for 6 years. During her time with Girl Scouts of the USA was in charge of organizing events conducted according the Girl Scout guidelines and principles.
Shanea also spent 3 years on the Parent Teach and Student Association, the first as the Vice President and 1.5 years as President. During her time with the Parent Teacher Student Association she organized the “Survivor Meets Tough Mudder Challenge,” hosting approximately 600 children and adults from the community together to competed in a mentally stimulating and physically challenging obstacle course event designed to bridge the gap between teens and potential mentors such as community leaders, business owners, police, fire and safety personnel.
Shanea provided hospitality and event planning services for SheMotos Curves & Corners, as Vice President, and served as “Team Mom” for the Anderson Racing Ministry (ARM), helping to plan and organize food services for the team during each race weekend of the American Federation of Motorcyclists Racing season.
Shanea has also been putting her event hosting skills to work in the motorcycle racing community with her two children. She helped build her son’s professional racing career in MotoAmerica, and has been supporting both of her children who have competed in various motorcycle championships, including road racing, dirt biking, and supermoto.
Chief Financial Officer Bio
Shanea has 28 year working in the Bay Area and Silicon Valley tech industry. After working for multiple dot.com start ups Shanea transitioned to work for the local government hoping to assist them with the transition to the intranet. Shanea's current role served as a Enterprise Financial Systems Lead Engineer managing the payroll and financial systems. Her professional responsibilities include information technology planning and implementation, project management, and supervision of a team of technicians and engineers.
Shanea has also been a small business owner and operator since age 16, and has built a multi-national programs in partnerships with the Nation Academy of Television Arts and Science and other local non profits such as the Bay Area Discovery Museum. Truth-Be-Told Apparel, her current business, specializes in high-quality, custom clothing with many of her clients having associations with the motorsports industry and racing.
Throughout her career, Shanea has been involved in many nonprofit organizations, including Web Stars, Girl Scouts, PTA, and SheMotos, helping to manage the budget and operations for several of them.
Shanea never takes on a new project unless she is passionate about the cause and believes in the mission. She is thrilled to serve as the Chief Financial Officer for The Remix Racing Project, Inc., as a breast cancer survivor she has a very personal connection to the organization’s initiatives, and she truly understands the importance of joining the fight against mental health and addiction stigma.
